Keynote Speaker: Mindy Thompson Fullilove, MD, professor of urban policy and health, The New School. Fullilove has been studying epidemics in poor communities, with a focus on the relationship between urban form and mental well-being. In 2009, she launched a Main Street NJ, a study of the role in Main Streets as social and commercial centers. This study takes her to 100 Main Streets in the US, France, the Netherlands and Japan. She has authored/edited 5 books, including Root Shock: How Tearing Up City Neighborhoods Hurts America and What We Can Do About It.

  • 10:30 AM: Press Conference and Rally-Help send off the bus tour and raise awareness of the Summit. Hear from our guest speakers and local housing advocates. Entrance to Posvar Hall @ Bigelow Blvd.
  • 11:00 AM-3:00 PM Neighborhood Tour--Bus will leave from Pitt campus (See our Guide to Pittsburgh's most impacted neighborhoods)
  • 3:00-4:00 PM Neighborhood tour debriefing/discussion--105 David Lawrence Hall
  • 7:00 PM--Big Money and Local Lives: Globalization and the Affordable Housing Crisis Evening plenary & reception, 120 David Lawrence Hall, University of Pittsburgh (3942 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15260) Keynote Speakers: Desiree Fields, urban geographer at the University of Sheffield (UK) and Ernesto López-Morales is Associate Professor of Urban Planning at the University of Chile in Santiago.Link to Live/Web stream
